Thank you to all the people who have contacted me in support of Kiya's rescue.  I am happy to say that Kiya is healthy and happy and completely normal once again.

The plot thickens...

August 2004: Laura Pope has been arrested and charged with over 80 counts of Animal Cruelty!

The Kentucky state humane society, along with Spencer county animal control, seized all dogs on Laura Pope's property.  The documented accounts of the conditions that the animals were found living in were nothing less then horrendous!

The Humans Society held the dogs for several months, paying boarding kennels to keep the dogs at the cost of close to $1,000 per day to the County.  Siberian Husky rescues across the USA volunteered to foster the dogs at their own expense until the case of Laura Pope went to trial and the outcome was decided.  The Humane Society refused to accept any offers of foster homes as well as offers of donations of dog food, dog supplies, etc. for these dogs.  Sadly, the county decided they could no longer afford to feed and house so many dogs and RETURNED THE DOGS TO LAURA POPE TO GO BACK AND LIVE IN THE SAME SQUALLER THAT THEY ORIGINALLY REMOVED THEM FROM!

Currently, Laura Pope is still awaiting trial on the animal cruelty charges,  meanwhile, she is back to selling puppies!
