Adopt a-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation (M DOT) program designed to help keep the state's highway roadsides clean and attractive. Participants adopt both sides or a section of state highway roadside to clean up over a two year period. A minimum two-mile stretch of roadway is recommended. All types of state highways may be adopted, including two-lane roads, limited access highways, boulevards and business routes

In 2004 Trinity adopted a 2 mile stretch of US Highway
31 between the St. Joseph River and the US 12 off ramp. We meet three times each
year to clean our stretch of that major artery in Berrien County. Generally, we
meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Prime Table restaurant h
for breakfast. At 9:00 a.m. we meet at h J.D.'s
Truck Stop to pick up any who didn't make it to breakfast and take 1 or 2
cars onto the highway and clean up both sides of the highway but not the median.
The first time of the year usually takes a little longer because of 8 months of accumulation
but with a good sized group we still expect to be done early afternoon and then
go grab some lunch.
Join us April 22, 2006 for this year's first clean up! The State would like
you to watch a 7 minute safety video which is available at the church. Wear good
shoes, boots if you can, bring work gloves and sun protection (hat, sunscreen,
etc.) It's a good way to take care of God's creation, a pleasant spring walk,
and good company! |
