Acolytes are people of all ages who assist the clergy and other worship ministers through out the service. Acolytes carry crosses, torches, banners and flags during the service. They assist the Ushers when they collect the offering. They help set the altar for the Great Thanksgiving and stand ready to offer parishioner help up and down the steps to the altar rail during the distribution of communion. The only requirement is that the acolyte must be able to safely carry a torch in procession. For more information on being an acolyte please click here! |
