Chalice Bearers The Episcopal Church use a common cup (chalice) for the wine in the Holy Eucharist. A licensed lay person (officially called a Lay Eucharistic Minister) normally administers the cup by coming after the Priest how has the bread, and offering to each person at the altar rail a sip from the cup and saying "The blood of Christ. the Cup of Salvation" or similar words. Some people prefer to dip their piece of bread in the wine instead. Training is required to perform this ministry and the Church must request a license from our Diocese for each Lay Eucharistic Minister. For more information please click here |
