Jessica Morsaw

Bozho (hello), my name is Jessica Morsaw, I am neshnabe kwe' (native woman) in the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians community. I am the fifth daughter of Deacon Arthur and Catherine Morsaw. The Morsaw family has lived in the area for several generations, following the leadership of Chief Pokagon in the 1800's, during the removal period, also known as "The Trail of Death". Growing up in the Southwestern Michigan Area I attended Hartford Public Schools where I graduated and moved on to further my Education at Grand Valley State University. From Grand Valley State University I received two Bachelor of Science degrees, in Communications and History. I currently dedicate my time servicing the adult Native American population (in a ten county area) in achieving their personal goals, through the Pokagon Band Education Department. I am a professional student when it comes to learning about my culture and heritage through my elders and community. I am currently learning more about native herbs and healing medicines. In my free time I spend time gardening, learning my native language, and spending time with my four sisters, two brothers, their spouses, and children.
